What a pleasure to deliver this news to you all!

Our very own Morgan County Democratic Committee Member Suzy Compere has just qualified with the Democratic Party of Georgia to run in the July primary as a candidate for the Georgia House, District 113!

The incumbent representative is Bob Smith, who has announced that he will not run for another term. Three Republicans are in the primary race for the seat.

Suzy has thought long and hard about this decision, done a lot of research, a lot of soul searching, a lot of sleeping-on-it, and spoken long hours with her very supportive family and state Democratic officials. She will need the support of each and every one of us in so many ways now and through the November election.

Let's give her a big atta-girl for making this hard decision for all us Dems in Morgan, Oconee, and Oglethorpe Counties!

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
