Memorial Day is upon us already, be sure to come out and pick up what you'll need for the weekend. We will have cinnamon rolls, pitas and fresh homemade breads and biscotti as well as granola. There will be homemade cupcakes, cakes, pecan pralines, baklava and assorted pastries as well as blueberry pie, apple pie, sweet potato pie, pecan pie, banana-nut bread, snickerdoodle cookies, apple-pecan muffins.
We will have fresh locally grown herbs, edible flowers, greens, lettuce, radishes, sprouts, green onions, spinach, squash, broccoli, onions and boiled or fried peanuts and pork skins.
Don't forget about our farm fresh eggs and Johnson Dairy Milk.
We will have ornamental plants, hanging baskets, potted flowers and fresh cut flowers.
Head of the Meadow Farms will be selling grass fed beef.
So come on out and pick up some locally grown, fresh goodness that you can take to a Memorial Day get together.
Don't forget to take a moment and remember those who have served our country over the years and the ones currently serving.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
