Squires withdraws from race for chair of Democratic Party of Georgia
Dear State Committee Member,
It is with regret that I must exit the race for Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
My husband, his nephew and I have been caring for my husband’s elderly sister who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. She recently took a turn for the worse and requires 24/7 care. The three of us decided that for as long as we are able we will provide that care for her ourselves. She devoted her youth to my husband and her son, and she’s deserves all the love and attention we can give now at the end of her life.
I will be spending most of my time in Augusta and leave for my ‘first shift’ in the morning. I’m afraid I will have limited ability to speak to you and respond by email. As most of you who have dealt with such circumstances know there are lots of trips to doctors, lawyers, government agencies, banks, etc. ahead and the clock is ticking.
Please pray for us.
In the next few weeks I will reach out to RJ, Doug and Dubose and plan on endorsing one of them before the election.
My warmest regards to you and all,
Mary Hodges Squires West
