New OCAF writing group



New writing group

This is a brand new group, please let your writing friends know about it.  Cindy, our new director at OCAF, wants you to know OCAF welcomes and encourages writers.

Subject: New writing group

Hello all -

Larry McDougald and I are reviving the old "Murder and Mayhem for Money" group that used to meet at the Georgia Center and was led by Harriette Austin.

We will meet at the OCAF building in Watkinsville, the old schoolhouse that now houses the arts foundation there. Every Wednesday, starting this week (February 26), 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The cost will be $20 for the semester, a bargain.

We'll follow the same procedures that Harriette used - read for ten minutes, followed by group discussion of your story. We hope for constructive criticism in the "M. M. M." tradition.

I hope you can all make it - tell your writer friends, please. Larry and I have felt the need for such a group, and hope to make a success of this one.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
