OCAF's Annual PERSPECTIVES: Georgia Pottery Invitational begins this coming Friday, August 29 with our always fabulous Opening Gala and continues every day through Wednesday, September 17. During PERSPECTIVES Watkinsville will be home to the largest collection of functional pottery in the state of Georgia. Don't miss your chance to purchase from these one-of-a-kind pottery pieces created by  Georgia's preeminent potters. And don't miss your chance to have first pick of all these beautiful items during our Opening Gala! 


Call for Volunteers

PERSPECTIVES would not be possible without all the wonderful volunteers who  make it happen. With the event beginning soon we are still in need of people to volunteer for everything from helping with the Opening Gala to Cashiering on the last day of the sale. Ask those who have volunteered in the past and they will tell you they have had a great time and have enjoyed the great group of people they met.

AS A VALUABLE ADDED BONUS,volunteers will be treated to an Appreciation Reception in Rocket Hall the evening the event closes on Wednesday, Sept 17th. During the reception,dinner will be served and ALL VOLUNTEERS WILL BE ABLE TO SHOP AND RECEIVE A 30% DISCOUNT ON ALL POTTERY IN ROCKET HALL.

$10 ADMISSION 

Admission price includes a buffet of assorted tasty finger foods and liquid refreshments under the tents adjacent to the 1902 Building. Music by Solstice Sisters will add to the festivities while you "meet and mingle" with this year's participating potters and are part of the first buyers to choose among the over 5000 pieces of pottery for sale.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. I live a far from perfect life myself but long ago and far away I learned how and when not to drink. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
