Congrats Corderius and Zeb from the Warriors football team

tossed two touchdown passes and rushed for another in a 41-7 rout of
Athens Christian on Friday. Paschal caught four passes for 108 yards and
two scores.

Oconee County is out to prove it's one of the best teams in Class AAA.
And after consecutive routs of Class AA Oglethorpe County and Class A Athens Christian, they think they’re starting to do that. 
“We’re starting to show that we’re
better than everybody thinks we are,” Oconee County quarterback Zeb
Noland said. “That’s our goal every week is to prove everybody wrong.”
Noland’s been a crucial part of the
Warriors’ (2-0) early success. The preseason Athens Banner-Herald
Terrific 10 selection recorded 212 passing yards and tossed two
touchdowns and added a rushing score in a 41-7 win over Athens Christian
on Friday. That follows a strong outing in a 49-6 win at Oglethorpe
County in the season opener, when Noland threw for two touchdowns.

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
