Sheriff Berry confirms Crimmins ID in fatal crash

Sheriff Scott Berry announces that the driver of the vehicle involved in the dual fatality crash on 316 a week ago today has been identified by the Crime Laboratory as Stephen Edward Crimmins, 24 of Winder and Auburn addresses. At the time of the fatal crash Crimmins was wanted by authorities on probation violation charges related to possession of methamphetamine and he had a suspended drivers license.

James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
