Congratulations to Watkinsville's Mary Bradbury-Bailey in earning a doctorate at Piedmont College. I hope all area schools continue offer most any applicable masters, doctorate, or post-doctorate degrees to keep the considerable education and development dollars locally. One of the more ridiculous arguments I got in post-debate this past campaign season was whether or not Gainesville State College was in fact a feeder program for the University of Georgia. Seems this wife of the brother of the failed banker/state representative was most upset after her daughter graduated with a medical degree from the main campus that is in fact in Oakwood (and not inside Gainesville city limits). I think it would be great if medical degrees were available at the Oconee County campus. I am glad that four year degrees are finally available at Gainesville State College.
