Wendell waxes about Planning Commission and BOC policy concerning appointments

At the risk of offending a frequent reader of this blog, I think former Oconee County Board of Commissioners' chairman Wendell Dawson does a pretty good job of uncovering some irregularities and procedural poop perpetrated by the County Government. I would like to know who's applications came in after the deadline and have them immediately shipped to Walton County (just kidding) but they should be disqualified from being considered for the post. Also the applicant interviewing parade and insider non-public discussion the BOC ostensibly uses is a joke. I think if you have not contributed to campaigns of the various members or are not part of the inside circle of developers and bankers running the county, you rarely stand a chance of getting appointed to any position of legitimate power and authority in Oconee County.

If we keep the status quo in power in all levels of Oconee County government, you know what's going to happen? More corruption, more insider shenanigans, more ugly MPDs, more paving, less trees, no sidewalks or bike paths, no public swimming facilities, more hideously ugly war memorials in a place where they should not be, and in general, no means of recall or repercussion on the public for a small amount of power brokers not in the least bit beholden to the general public but instead in the pockets of a few wealthy good ol' boys and developers here in what is otherwise a really great county.

Some people want to condemn the messenger without even reading the message. Get over it folks. Check out something new and different without bitching and griping about who or whom may have brought it. After all, who else is going to do it? The Oconee Enterprise? HA! Don't make me laugh.

Did you apply for any of the boards? Shame on you if you did not.

Oh what a (tangled) web we weave
