Brian lets us know about an Athens law firm fleeing to Bogart

Watkinsville Councilman Brian Brodrick does PR work by day in the beautifully refurbished Hodgson Oil Building downtown in Athens (formerly the site of the I and I Club, Buckhead Beach and numerous great rock shows in practice space kind of place) for Jackson-Spalding - this might be one of his releases. My only comment would be the new address is not mentioned and I do not even know for certain if that is mailing address Bogart out there. I presume it is. It sure is not in the city limits of Bogart proper. That is where the big development is for our county. We need a better branding of that area other than the technolgy corridor and better building names.

Respected Athens Law Firm Will Take 19,417 Square Feet in New Building

ATHENS, Ga., March 7, 2006 – One of Athens’ oldest and most prestigious law firms is changing its address.

Fortson, Bentley & Griffin today announced that it will move from its downtown Athens offices into the entire 3rd floor of a new building at University Parkway Office & Technology Park just off Highway 316 in Oconee County.

Athens-based Nichols Land Development Company, which is developing the new office park, is the developer of the new 70,000 square-foot facility, called Building 200. The three-story building is the second on the site, and will be just to the east of the 80,200 square-foot OIIT building. Plans call for additional buildings on the site.

“This is another example of a blue-chip business choosing the region’s best buildings and location for their offices,” said Ed Nichols, president of Nichols Land Development Co. “We are thrilled to offer the type of facilities that will attract tenants of the caliber of Fortson, Bentley & Griffin.”

Founded in 1946, Fortson, Bentley & Griffin has been located in its downtown office at 440 College Avenue North since 1983. Sixteen attorneys practice at the firm, which employs 48 individuals.

“Our firm has a proud history of serving clients from throughout the region, and this will remain our commitment regardless of our location,” said Upshaw Bentley, president of Fortson, Bentley & Griffin, P.A. “We’re excited about the new space and the efficiencies it will bring to our clients and associates.”

Numerous build-to-suit options and advanced technology infrastructure make Building 200 particularly well-suited for high-tech, legal, and information-intensive businesses. An OC 48 fiber connection offers one of Northeast Georgia’s fastest internet connections. A raised floor ventilation system and other custom details bring the conveniences of true class A space to an area without similar facilities. The building will also offer full-service management, ample parking, and a location that is minutes from downtown Athens, the University of Georgia, and the executive housing of Oconee County.

The prime location along University Parkway provides for easy travel to Atlanta and its suburbs via a four-lane, divided highway. The building was designed by Steven B. Hill of H. Lloyd Hill Architects & Associates of Gainesville. It will have a lush, landscaped environment, high-end finishes with a strong blend of classic and modern architecture, and an ornate lobby with wood features and marble flooring.

Designed as a campus environment, University Parkway Office & Technology Park will eventually include as much as 220,000 square feet of class A office and lodging space in five buildings. The 24-acre park will feature planned green space with a small lake and walking trails for employees. Its location is just 10 minutes from the University of Georgia and downtown Athens and 54 miles northeast of Atlanta.
