Oconee Republican doesn't like Perdue's ad campaign

Borrowed from another blog:

Athens Banner-Herald 7-13-03 …….A public hearing Monday on the environmental impacts of a proposed passenger rail line between Athens and Atlanta might seem like an empty exercise, now that Gov. Sonny Perdue has axed funding for it….

The contents of the Perdue ads are no better than the messenger. Trying to tap into the National frustration with Immigration by saying “Sonny did…” something about it was just too much overreaching and I tuned it out after the first one. The “bragging” about improvements to education just antagonizes teachers and others who know the real facts. Moving from 50th on SAT scores to 46th is noteworthy but hardly anything giving any special credit to Sonny Perdue.

Perdue has come to Oconee County several times and that is good. However, his spokesman was Jim Ivey of the Veterans Funds notoriety. This year, I tried to find a contact for the Perdue Campaign and was directed to Perdue Campaign Oconee County Chairman Tom Little, a person considered a “wheeler-dealer’ with his own baggage. Perdue will carry Oconee County in spite of Tom Little and not because of any assets he brings to the process.

Instead of “Glad Handing barbecues”, some Oconee Leaders need to ask the Governor some serious questions:

1. What are your plans for upgrading GA 316?

2. What are your plans for Commuter Rail and Rapid Transit to stop gridlock in Metro Atlanta?

3. What has happened to the four-laning of U. S. 441 in Oconee and Morgan Counties (both Counties are represented by Rep. Bob Smith)?

4. What is status of upgrading GA Highway 15 (local route to GA Coast) and the GA 15 Connector to U. S. 441 south of Watkinsville?

5. Where are the “Big Highway” funds for NEGA?

6. Why have School Property Taxes continued to rise in Oconee and other area counties?

The Governor’s race is for Sonny Perdue to lose. So far, his campaign is doing a pretty good job of working for defeat out of the ‘jaws of Victory”.

This is one voter who will not listen to anymore “Sonny Did..” commercials. I will also communicate with someone other than Jim Ivey and Tom Little.
