Paris Hilton video spoof filmed at Oconee County jail

By now it has been on various news outlets and newspapers, but I thought our intrepid readers should have the opportunity to witness this parody themselves to make up their own minds.

I have very little sympathy for either Paris Hilton, Sheriff Scott Berry or the makers of this video. I am glad she is released and hope she learns from her latest episode. I think Sheriff Berry by in large does a good job, but this is a blemish on his record and Oconee County as a whole. But I am all for freedom of speech and comedy. Social satire is a great method of political protest and commentary. I recognize the women from Junkman's Daughter's Brother with the glove who poses as a guard. Let me know what you think.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
