State party launches new website

The Democratic Party of Georgia launched its new website today. Designed in partnership with NGP software, the new website gives the DPG a new look and some updated functions. The new website also interfaces seamlessly with the party's fundraising database, which is also provided by NGP.

Funding for the new website (as well as for some behind-the-scenes technical upgrades) was provided by a fundraising drive held in October. Our target for the drive was $10,000 from 100 individual donors, a goal we shattered. The total amount raised from this project was over $14,000 from 136 donors.

Visit the new site at www.georgiademocrat.org.

Save water!

Water worries are growing in Georgia, and forecasters are predicting another dry winter in Georgia. Here are some tips on how you can do your part to conserve water in and around your home.

  • Save as much as 1,000 gallons of water a month by only running your washing machine and dishwasher when they're full.
  • Wash fresh fruits and veggies in a pan partially filled with water, instead of under a running faucet. Then, use the water you washed your fruits and veggies in to water your household plants.
  • Get a low-flow showerhead - they're inexpensive, easy to install, and could save you 500 gallons of water a week! (Once you have your low-flow showerhead in place, keep your showers to 5 minutes or less for more savings.)
  • Check your faucets for leaks and drips.
  • Keep a pitcher or bottle of water in the refrigerator for cold drinks, so that every drop goes down you, not the drain.

A new way to support the state party

Have you ever wanted to be able to help the party financially with a no-hassle monthly contribution?  Now you can with our new recurring contribution program. This is a great way to help the party continue to stand up to the Republican agenda and to help grow our base of Democrats in preparation for the 2008 elections!

Even a contribution of $10.00 a month will make a difference.

New faces at the state party

As the Democratic Party of Georgia prepares for the 2008 election cycle, we're adding some new staff to fill critical needs areas in the field and finance departments.

Kimberly Willis joined the party staff recently as our new Operations Manager.  Kimberly will be overseeing planning for the 2008 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, as well as coordinating plans for the Georgia delegation's attendance at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Stacey Chavis is the state party's new Deputy Finance Director.  Stacey will be working closely with our State House and State Senate Democrats on their fundraising.  Stacey has also worked for Congressman Hank Johnson.

Kelli Persons is an exciting new addition to our staff.  As our new volunteer coordinator, Kelli will handle the hundreds of DPG volunteers, in addition to overseeing our interns.
