Athens Habitat Breaking Ground on Women Build Home
Athens, GA—Athens Area Habitat for Humanity will celebrate the Women Build Ceremonial Groundbreaking on Wednesday, November 14th at 3:30PM. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will take place at 883 Waddell Street Athens, GA.
Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to have fun and make a difference by building homes and communities.
The current Women Build project (Building Green and Building Dreams) is the third campaign presented by Athens Area Habitat. This campaign is made possible through a partnership with Athens-Clarke County Human Economic Development and The Athens Land Trust. Fundraising efforts, which have included three major events so far, began over the summer.
The Women Build Project began in 1991 with a group of women from South Carolina who raised funds to sponsor a Habitat home. To date, over 800 Women Build homes have been completed. Athens Area Habitat began its involvement in 2002.
Athens Area Habitat will also take this opportunity to announce the upcoming 20th anniversary. In celebration, the organization has set a goal of completing ten new homes next year.
Athens Area Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of substandard housing in Clarke, Oconee, and Oglethorpe counties in the state of Georgia.
