Christmas wishes and New Year's Resolutions
I wish the Oconee County Board of Commissioners would vote on beer and wine pouring in our non-Watkiinsville restaurants.
I resolve to spend some money there at the new restaurants like the Taco Stand coming to Butler's Crossing soon. Too bad DePalma's won't be there across the street or the BBQ place now shut down at Manders Crossing.
I wish the US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan will be home by next Christmas.
I resolve to support our troops in as many ways as possible without abandoning peace sentiments for Iraq and Afghanistan. I think we should not be bombing the Kurds in northern Iraq or helping the Turks do it.
I wish the Georgia Bulldogs beat the snot out of Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl, although I hope the score is something like 45-33.
I resolve to attend more free UGA events in the next 12 months.
I wish that the Oconee County Democratic Committee would elect Pat Priest as chair.
I resolve to attend more events if she is appointed/elected. She practically runs everything anyhow already so let's just make it formal, shall we?
I wish that people would clean up the sides of roads and various garbage and junk piles.
I resolve to give more stuff away on Athens Freecycle as I did today to Pam White with Little Tykes Tykes Peak train kit today with a bunch of Lowell's old clothes thrown in as well.
I wish that all the Oconee County Clean and Beautiful Committee members would erect the Oconee County Democratic Committee sign on the Oconee Connector as soon as possible.
I resolve to help with more trash pick up when we get our sign up on the road.
I wish that more qualified Democratic candidates would run for office.
I resolve to support them better.
I wish that 10th district Democratic congressional candidate Bobby Saxon had a few hundred thousand dollars more in the bank to campaign with and start TV commercials.
I resolve to help him with his social networking sites should he ever appoint a campaign chair.
I wish that the City of Watkinsville will continue with great projects like Streetscape and redesigning the fencing around Rocket Field.
I resolve to bike more around town with my son and by myself.
I wish that Lowell scores as much as he can in basketball and any other sports he chooses to play.
I resolve to not push him into any activities he does not want to participate in and try to show him how much I love him every day and every way possible.
I wish that someone would love me for being just me.
I resolve to love someone back.
