Tri-County Talent Show Set THIS SATURDAY Feb. 16
Tickets available at the door: Adults $10 ~ Students $5
As a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to honor the King
Holiday, the Moore's Ford Memorial Committee is hosting the Sixth
Annual Tri-County Talent Show/Martin Luther King Celebration at 7
p.m., Sat., Feb. 16 at the Oconee County Civic Center.
Currently enrolled public high school students, grades nine
through twelve, from Athens-Clarke, Oconee and Walton Counties will
compete for $1000 worth of prize money. Based on the auditions, this
year's shows promises to be the best. An art exhibit will accompany
the talent show.
"We realize our talent show is late for the King holiday," said
MFMC secretary Rich Rusk. "But these shows are infused with the
spirit of Dr. King. We urge everyone to attend."
The benefit performance will raise money for Moore's Ford Memorial
Scholarships. The multiracial citizens group, formed to commemorate
two African American couples killed by racial violence at the Moore's
Ford Bridge in 1946, awards seven $1,000 scholarships to area high
school seniors each Spring as "living memorials" to George and Mae
Murray Dorsey and Roger and Dorothy Malcom.
