Fwd: Happy Earth Day from the Georgia Democratic Party

Dear Daniel,

Democrats believe that it's everyone's job to protect and steward our natural resources.  Today, on Earth Day, we wanted to share some tips with you on how you can help leave a cleaner planet for our children and grandchildren, with cleaner water to drink and safer air to breathe.
  • Check out the Energy Star program to research products that offer energy-efficient alternatives for your home or business, like dishwashers and washing machines that save water, kitchen appliances that use less energy, and even electronics that save you money on your power bill.

  • Cut pollution by taking fewer trips in your car.  You can combine errands, take public transportation, or even walk or bike.  And with gas prices averaging $3.50 a gallon in Georgia, you'll save a few bucks too.

  • How many Democrats does it take to change a light bulb?  Just one, to commit to helping the environment by switching to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFL).  Did you know that if every household in America installed just one CFL, it would save over $600 million in energy costs?  That's enough energy to light over 3 million houses a year!

  • Let your laundry pile up.  By waiting until you have a full load of laundry to do your washing, you'll save gallons of water.

  • Check out the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service online.  You can find tips to help the environment and keep your yard looking great, like how to build a compost heap and how to control pests without overusing harmful pesticides.

  • Support the Democratic Party of Georgia.  We're working every day to elect candidates who will create transportation options, protect our air and water, and keep Jekyll Island safe from overdevelopment.
These are just a few things you can do today to help protect and preserve our natural resources.  Please take a few moments on this Earth Day and think about the kind of world you want to leave for future generations, and encourage your friends to do the same.
