More on stolen signs and a description of the suspect

At least we have a witness. I would suggest calling the non-emergency number 706-769-5665 of the Oconee County Sheriff's Department if you live outside Watkinsville or the Watkinsville Police Department 706-7697891 if the thefts continue.

Subject: [oconee] Fwd: stolen signs

Just to let you know about another one:

Becky -- I see that you are the chair of the Oconee County Democratic Party so I am emailing you to see if you can help me out.  I live on Hwy 78 between Mars Hill Rd and Hwy 53.  Yesterday, some jerk pulled up in front of our house and ripped up our Democratic yard signs, threw them in his truck, and roared off.  I checked with DOT to make sure it was not road mainenance pulling up all signs that might be in the right of way -- it wasn't.  Just a vandal.

I hate to let such tactics be rewarded.  A friend of mine is bringing me a bunch more Jim Martin signs; I have extra Bobby Saxon signs; I'm seeing Sherry Jackson tomorrow and will get more signs from her.  I don't have another Obama sign, and I hear they are hard to come by in Georgia.  Any chance the county party has one?  or two, should the jerk come back . . . I would really like to NOT have this redneck rewarded.

Also, if someone in the county organization could get word out to folks to be on the lookout -- this was a white pickup truck.  The driver was middle-aged in khakis with a knit shirt.  My husband was not able to get the license plate as he roared away.  But if folks on the lookout, perhaps (I know its a longshot, but perhaps) we can figure who it is.  He acted as if he was experienced!

Thanks for any assistance.

Carol Baschon
