What are we talking about?! January!? Right now when everyone is trying to get ready for Christmas? I just want to give you first notice and ask you to put it on your calendar. It will be fun to get together after we have a few days to recover from the Holidays. Our next breakfast will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, the 10th of January at Trumps new facility in the shopping center at the corner of Milledge Ave. extended and the Macon Hwy. The shopping center where Bi-Lo use to be. If, by chance, this new facility is not open, I will let you know and we will meet downtown as before. It should be easier access for most everyone and there  will be plenty of parking space.  Our speakers for this meeting will be our two local Democratic legislators  - Keith Heard and Doug McKillip. They will be talking to us about the coming legislative session, informing us about what issues will likely be coming up and how we can help them push for more progressive legislation. We are grateful to them for taking the time to do this!
We have decided not to sell tickets since we don't have a convenient outlet to do this. Instead, please make a reservation by 5 January. We are suppose to give Trumps a guaranteed number by Tuesday before the breakfast. Call or e-mail:

Those of you who prefer not to eat breakfast, you may come at 9:30 and we will have extra chairs. If anyone would like to come for breakfast and socializing but find $12.00 more than you can manage in these difficult times, please let me know. We have some extra money for just this purpose. 

Now that the election is over, we need to know if you want to continue having monthly breakfasts. It does take time and planning for our committee and when we schedule speakers we like to know that they are going to have a good audience. Would you please take the time to write or e-mail me your responses to these questions? My address is 290 Waterford Way, Athens, 30606.
Would you prefer to have meetings monthly or every other month?
Would you prefer to have some meetings at some venue that does not include a meal?
Would you like to have some meetings at night? With or without a meal?
Please give us suggestions for programs that you would like to have?

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
