Dear Friends,  As promised, I've filed a more complete report on the Daniells Bridge  Road rezone on my blog. The county is spending $400,000 of taxpayer  money to support this office park development. The good news is that the  money almost certainly will make the roadway more safe. Contrary to what  you might have read elsewhere, however, the $400,000 will NOT eliminate  the blind curve. And it is not consistent with the county's plans to  eventually create a four-lane loop road around the Epps Bridge Parkway  and SR Loop 10 interchange, meaning it is a short-term fix rather than  the result of long-range planning.  It is pretty clear that the improvements to Daniells Bridge Road would  not have been pushed forward without the pressure from citizens. At the  same time, it is pretty clear that the real goal of the BOC majority is  to promote development regardless of what those in its way think of the  development. THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
