Zinkhan murder spree has Oconee authorities searching remote woods

The horrific scene at the Town and Gown Theater this weekend found its way to Oconee County today as Sheriff's Deputies investigated a remote area of woods in the Northwest part of the county, according to a great article written by newly non-sports journalist and old friend of mine Chip Towers in today's non-issue.

I have mixed emotions about the whole capital punishment movement, and do not feel all that swell about the government taking someone's life in my name. The death now scheduled for tomorrow afternoon in Butts County for a murder occurring in Oconee County does not make me happy or upset in particular, but if Zinkhan has not already taken his own life, I would fully agree with the government doing it in this particular instance.

I know we have a great Sheriff's Department and I hope the Deputies find Zinkhan soon.

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
