Some Watkinsville resident calls for less hysteria, more ccoperation in the Health Care discussions

I have three conservatively bent Facebook friends who predictably freak out any time I post anything about possible insurance reform on that social networking site. So now I am taking a different approach to call for toning down the rhetoric without having to call someone a Nazi or say that death panels are coming to take your Grandmother away. The Georgia government did not do a very good job with the PeachCare debacle and I doubt that they will do a much better job this time around, but lucky for us we will probably get a federally enacted insurance reform this time around. Thanks to Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa my step mom will not get refunded for talking to counselors about end of life options for my father, who talks about his impending death every other time I talk to him. Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
