Dear Council and Citizens of the Town of North High Shoals:

After eighteen plus years of arduous service as mayor of North High Shoals, I have come
to the decision that my presence is no longer desired or required. I have remained
steadfast to the last concerning my duties, but I now feel that valor and devotion can
accomplish nothing that will compensate for the loss of time to my family that would
attend the continuance of my services.

I will take with me the satisfaction that proceeds from a consciousness of duty faithfully
performed; and I earnestly pray that a Merciful God will extend to this council and the
citizens of this town His blessings and protection.

With an unceasing admiration for the constancy and devotion to this city shown forth by
the many town councils which I have presided over, and with a grateful remembrance of
your kind and generous consideration for myself, I bid you all an affectionate farewell.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
