Saturday, 10 April – The 1st Annual Anti-tax Rally & Pancake Supper, sponsored by the Oglethorpe County Republican Party, will be held in the Crawford Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The rally begins at 3:00 p.m., with an all-you-can-eat pancake supper to follow at 4:00 p.m. Tickets for the pancake supper are $5 each. Contact Kirk Shook for tickets or more information. Speakers include Nathan Deal, Austin Scott, Gerry Purcell, Harold Logsdon, Melvin Everson, Gary Black, Darwin Carter, Roger Hines, Richard Woods, and all the State Senate District 47 candidates. Monday, 12 April – The CCRC’s regular monthly meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday, 12 April. Speakers for the evening will be candidate for Governor Karen Handel, candidate for Attorney General Max Wood, and candidate for Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner Gerry Purcell. The meeting takes place at CCRC Headquarters, located at 445 North Milledge Avenue. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:00 p.m., with the program following at 6:25 p.m.
Thursday, 15 April – The nonpartisan 2nd Annual Oconee County Tax Protest takes place at Oconee Veterans Park beginning at noon (no soccer games are scheduled). Scheduled speakers include State Senator Bill Cowsert (District 46), State Representative Bob Smith (District 113), Jordan Chinouth (U.S. Representative Paul Broun's district manager), Bill Greene (conservative activist and president of RightMarch.com), Jay Hanley (Oconee County Republican Party chairman), Kirk Shook (Oglethorpe County Republican Party chairman and Athens Area Young Republicans chairman), and Bill Griffin (Chairman of Clarke County Republican Party). Saturday, 17 April – There will be a Multi-County Candidate Meet and Greet Dinner at Cateechee Golf Club in Hartwell from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Join your friends and neighbors from Banks, Clarke, Elbert, Franklin, Hart, Jackson, Oconee, Oglethorpe and Stephens counties for this event. All statewide candidates have been invited and a straw poll is planned. The dinner menu consists of Hawaiian chicken breast, country style green beans, herbed rice pilaf, salad, bread, cookies and brownies, coffee, tea and water. Tickets are $20 per person and must be purchased in advance, the deadline for which has been extended to Wednesday, 07April. For tickets or more information, contact Jay Hanley as soon as possible.
