Are you planning to resign from the Oconee BOE?

Dear Mr. Breedlove, I think I am the least of your concerns at this point.
Your credibility has been extinguished with me and I would suspect the general public of Oconee County.
I am always amused at how public officials such as yourself like to start the comments "I normally don't read blogs like yours..." ~ yes, you and 100,000 other people don't read my blog either. That was the number of independent page views I was told by Sitemeter last week.
Here is the email exchange we went through last January.
I published your comments in their entirety, and I stand by my rather coarse characterization of your course of action.

No, everything for me is just as it was when I last wrote.

Have you changed your mind? I keep getting conflicting reports you plan to resign from the BOE from sources I trust, but if you insist you are not resigning from the BOE, I understand. But maybe do you have a timetable of when you may reconsider?

Hi Dan,

This Monday I announced to our staff at Williams & Associates my decision to leave the company. This is the only resignation that has occured.  I shared this with fellow BOE members Monday evening.

I've worked with Jon Williams at W&A since 2000 and have been a partner in the business since 2006. My decision to exit the company came after a dificult year for me personally.  At the end of the year I took some time off to  reflect on things and realized I wanted to move in a new direction with my wife and family.

Our intention is to ultimately move closer to some of Lisa's family and into an area that we have always enjoyed but didn't anticipate getting to for years. So this is somewhat of a leap of faith for us, but one that we are making together and are excited about as well. Still, there is much that has to happen and no definitive timeline.

So I plan on continuing to serve on the BOE until I feel there is some imminent reason to do otherwise.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Breedlove:

Sorry to bother you at your other job, but I have received word you are intending to resign from the Oconee County Board of Education and just wanted to receive confirmation before I printed anything in my blog. Are you moving out of county? Are you submitting your resignation to the BOE? What prompted this decision?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and best of luck in any future career moves.

Dan Matthews
