Little bits about not that many things
This Insider Advantage snapshot tells me there is about a 15% Redneck polling bloc in the Georgia Republican party, probably about the same in the Democratic party too. Matt Towery lost a large amount of his credibility with shenanigans in the recent past, so I would not place too much stock in anything his poll indicates at the point. Still I bet the people at Karen Handel's campaign were none too pleased with the results showing them in third in what is almost certain to be a run-off in the Republican primary in less than two months.
In an unrelated matter, I saw my first Kirk Shook yard sign on Main Street in Watkinsville much more visible than Corky Elder's alleged No Trespassing sign. The man who claims to cook best butt in town verbally accosted a local business owner for having the gall to cross his used car repository on the way to the Southworks festival at OCAF a few weeks back. Democratic candidate Suzy Compere will dare step foot in the targeted Governmental Annex tomorrow to talk to the Oconee County Democratic Committee at 7:00 pm Thursday at 1291 Greensboro Highway in what may soon become the former room of the U.S. Agricultural Department. Just keep looking for the room with the portrait of Tom Vilsack mounted on the wall next to President Barack Obama back near where they teach adults how to read. How dare they do that.
Kudos to 960 the Ref's Chris Brame for naming Glenn Beck as one of the five worst villians on television or movies today on The Home Team. Predictably enough Jeff Dantzler reacted with feigned puffery directed at Keith Olbermann, but managed to show the first amount of restraint ever in realizing if he smeared Rachel Maddow with the homophobic slur he started to he would probably jeopardize his women's basketball broadcasting gig. But really, you've never seen "No Country for Old Men" yet?
With no prompting and my suggestion probably being the kiss of death, I would like to urge former Oconee County Board of Education candidates to sign up to replace Tom Breedlove since his long-rumored resignation. Maybe if I hold off naming names they still might slide under the radar of the radical right locally without the besmirching by a freedom loving, tax cutting, gun rights, real Veteran honoring, teacher supporting, recreation department boosting, park nabbing, agriculturist Teddy Roosevelt type of Democrat such as myself.
