Watkinsville Litter Clean-Up and first Saturday Stroll
I hope in the future we do not have such an overabundance of competing events at essentially the same time.
The first letter is from Dr. Robert Wyatt, and the second preceded it from Oconee County Democratic Committee Chair Jonathan Veit.

Congratulations, Jonathan, and the rest of the CCDC team! We beat the Republicans again with one to spare. Maybe there should be a trophy in the form of a miniature trash can that goes each year to the winner.
As the leader of one of the competing events ("Saturday Strolls at Harris Shoals"), which also was sponsored by the CCDC, I am happy to report that we had 17 people. The previous week we drew an all-time record, with more than 25 people participating. Please come this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. when Steve Holzman will lead a walk focused on birds.
As I drove on Simonton Bridge Road into Athens Saturday afternoon, I could clearly see the difference before and after reaching the church where you guys started to pick up. Good work!

Thanks to Dan and Lowell Matthews, Liz Goodroe,
Steve Holtzman, and Julie Sapp of the CCDC for
helping to clean up Watkinsville on Saturday
morning.
There were several competing events including the
Saturday Stroll through Harris Shoals, opening day
of the Farmers Market, and the Clean and Beautiful
Committee's county-wide clean up. Despite all those
competing events, Mayor Walter declared the
Democrats the winners after the GOP only turned out
four volunteers.
Of course, civic pride is non-partisan, and the
important thing is that we collected 15 bags of
trash! As I drove on Simonton Bridge Road towards
town this morning, it was great to see it looking so
clean.
Thanks again!
