Oconee Democrats select State Convention delegates at Caucus Saturday

The Oconee County Democratic Committee selected three delegates to State Convention in Athens in August during their caucus Saturday afternoon at Krimson Kafe in Watkinsville. Vicky Moody is already a member of the State Delegation, and Robert Wyatt and Jonathan Veit will be joining her along with Ann Stoneburner. Tony Glenn and yours truly as alternates.  The secret ballots were tabulated by Vicky and Ann, who is the assistant chair of the committee but graciously chaired this meeting.

Many discussions of the recent primary, on both sides of the ballot, as well as education and other topics were discussed soon thereafter. Though we may be small in number, we are strong in spirit and opinion. It was good to see longtime members Herb and Myrna West return to the fold for the meal and meeting at the Watkinsville lunch time eatery.

The Oconee County Democratic Committee does not always have enough members to meet or make quorums as was the case for their most recent meeting prior to this caucus.  We really could use your help and input at the next meeting on the third Thursday at the Government Annex on Highway 15. Chair Jonathan Veit has tried about everything except begging for people to attend, so I am officially begging for people to attend our next meeting.

The following are photos I took of the gathering and of Krimson's beautiful baby. Congratulations to her and the father of her baby that works at Sunshine Cycles in Watkinsville as well on the birth of their beautiful baby.

Many thanks to Krimson Black for having us at her restaurant. Just a scant few weekends before, I ate there with my son and was astonished at the lack of the usual crowd. The packed house seems to have returned and I urge all Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Whigs, Confederates, Tea Party members, librarians, Libertarians and people who are completely apolitical to grab a bite to eat there as often as possible.

My work schedule makes it nearly impossible for me to eat there during the week, so I am happy to have the chance to eat there. I had just picked up an old B-52's concert poster from their Athens days I had framed at Art Masters in their final week to loan to her restaurant near her Beatles poster as a thank you for letting us have the meeting there.

Go by Krimson Kafe in the next couple of weeks and check out this classic poster I got from Michael Guthrie and framed by Lori and Geoff Seila at Art Masters. The B-52's played a concert that evening in Peachtree City, but I missed that gig.
