White paint puts stop signs in better focus
I must commend Mayor Joe Walter and the streets department of Watkinsville for painting the LARGE white stripes on the roads to remind drivers exactly where to stop around the streets in the subdivisions of Watkinsville. Once this summer or actually spring I had to read the riot act to a couple of kids who ran a street sign in a small motorized vehicle and would occasionally run out into a busier street without even pausing at the stop sign.
The only downside I can see is when someone is parked on the curb too near the intersection and you have to wait to take a turn or otherwise have the car coming from the other direction make their turn. This is a small price to pay for safety. Patience, people, patience.
Now if I can just keep the vandals from swiping the formerly attached street signs from atop the stop signs, everything would be hunky dory in my suburban paradise.
How about that wind storm the other day? Took out some trees and blew lots of limbs down. I would think it was a wind shear.
