Russell Edwards fundraiser in Oglethorpe County September 28


Dear Friends in Clarke and Oconee Counties, 
As we head into the November midterm elections, voters in Georgia's 10th Congressional District will be faced with the prospect of extending the term of our current U.S. Representative, Republican Paul Broun Jr., a favorite of the Tea Parties and the John Birch Society, who first gained national attention for himself and our district by comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler.  Because of his purported ideological opposition to “Big Government,” he has refused to seek federal funds that would benefit our small businesses and schools and has fought against regulation of the banking industry.
We think our district deserves better.  The Oglethorpe County Democratic Party throws its wholehearted support behind Democrat Russell Edwards, who urges us to work together to send responsible leadership to Washington.  Read more about Russell’s campaign platform at his website, www.russelledwardsforcongress.com. 
Please join the Oglethorpe Democrats in supporting Russell Edwards at an informal House Party fundraiser on Tuesday, September 28, at 7:00 p.m.  Potluck dinner will be provided, and Russell will be there to meet voters and answer questions.  We are asking for a minimum contribution of $25 per person.  Ticket buyers will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card to Advance Auto Parts!

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
