JANUARY
21 Monthly meeting: John Beasley discussed his on-going work to improve living conditions in Haiti.
26 The Committee presented a memorandum at the Board of Commissioners meeting asking the BOC to purchase available properties in the vicinity of Elder Bridge, a scenic and historical area with a high priority for preservation.

27 Members attended a telecast of the “State of the Union” address at Transmetropolitan in Athens, GA
29 State Committee member, Vickie Moody, attended the State Committee meeting in Warner Robbins

4 The Committee sponsored the Health Care Forum at the County Library, Watkinsville, GA

15 Monthly meeting: Sandy Untermyer discussed his possible candidacy to replace Paul Broun from the 10th Congressional District. Terry Holley, 10th District chair, discussed issues in the coming campaign to replace Bob Smith of HD 113.

*Sponsored by the Democratic Party in Oconee County and organized by Pat Priest, the Book Club meets publicly at the 5-Points Deli on the last Wednesday of each month to discuss influential books from the fields of history, politics, and natural history.
**Sponsored by the Democratic Party in Oconee County and organized by Pat Priest, these were a series of 14 guided tours of Harris Shoals Park in Watkinsville. Each tour had focused on a different aspect of the park depending on the ecological perspectives of the guides. Over $ 1100 dollars were raised for charities.
Financial support provided to the Food Bank, as well as charities supported by the Saturday strolls.
