Subject: DPG needs names of students affected by the new HOPE Scholarship rules

Hello District 10 Democratic Leaders,
Below is a second request from the DPG for help in fighting the Republicans' terrible changes in the HOPE Scholarship. Please put on your thinking caps, and pass the names along to me!
Patsy
Last week, we explained that we are looking for people who have benefited from the HOPE scholarship, or stand to lose benefits under the new changes to the program.

So far, I have three names submitted for this video project.

Again, please reach out to your districts and find examples of:
  • Current college students that have above a 3.0 GPA and on HOPE, but will only have 90% of their tuition covered next year.
  • Current high school students who are concerned that they might not be able to afford college next year due to the changes.
  • Technical school students who are on the HOPE grant, but will lose it due to the new GPA requirement for technical schools.
  • Adults who previously received the HOPE scholarship, and can attest to its usefulness while they were in college.
These web videos will be quick, powerful, and make the case that the state should keep its promises to our children. We must remind Georgians that the lottery-funded scholarship is not being used for its original purpose- advancing working-class Georgians toward a better future.

Please reach out to your network of friends, families, and the county parties within your district for possible people to participate in these videos. We'd like to find one person from each Congressional District to highlight. You can submit your suggestions to this email address.

If you have any questions, please ask! And thanks for all of your hard work for our party.
