Dr. Betty Ann Brooks, local resident and author, will speak to the Oconee Historical Society at their meeting on Feb 20th, 7pm at OCAF.   Her recently published book, From Riverboats to Confederate Navy to Knighthood, will be discussed. The book chronicles Dr. Brooks' family history leading up to the Civil War and especially the riverboat captain, William Param Brooks, her grandfather.  Dr. Brooks can tell as good a story as she can write one so join us as we travel from New Orleans to Cuba , England and the return to the South.

The meeting will be at OCAF February 20th at 7pm.  There was a recent article about Dr. Brooks and her book in the Oconee Leader, if you are interested in learning more about this interesting lady.
