Hello all!

A big thank you to all those who came out on Wednesday to get their fresh veggie and egg fix!  We will be open again this Saturday from 9 onwards (Wednesday we started running low around 1 and closing up around 2 - I imagine Saturday will be the same).

And just in case you need an easy, last minute gift idea this holiday season - candied pecans make GREAT gifts!  Our good friend, Whitney, sent us a delicious recipe  to use with your Pasture of Rose Creek Pecans:

INGREDIENTS:  
  • 4 c. pecans (from The Pastures of Rose Creek, where else???)
  • 1 egg white (from a pasture raised, Rose Creek egg of course!) 
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. sugar
METHOD:
  • Preheat oven to 250
  • Combine all ingredients except for pecans in a mixing bowl and let sit for 15 minutes
  • Spread the pecans out on a cookie sheet
  • Pour the mixture over the pecans
  • Bake pecans for 1 hour (checking often!!)
  • Once you've removed the pecans from the oven immediately move the pecans around on the cookie sheet or they will stick to the pan

  • Arugula
  • Eggplant
  • Turnips
  • Beets (a variety)
  • Icicle radishes
  • Kale
  • Tomatoes (they are just now starting to come in so the early bird gets the tomatoes! - all heirloom varieties...delicious cherokee purples, medium sized yellow perfection tomatoes, and bite size hawaiian currants)
Look for the signs on Colham Ferry leading to us on Rose Creek Drive starting at 9 this Saturday!  Give us a honk if you don't see us manning the stand (we're probably just workin' away in the garden or hoop house) - we'll come a runnin'.  :)

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
