After much thought, soul searching, and prayer I have decided to retire from Camden County at the end of this year and accept a position at a private school, Prince Avenue Christian, in Oconee County. Those close to me know that I have been considering a move to a Christian school since I became eligible to retire. Prince Avenue Christian is the type of school that I have been looking for and is also in a great location for our family. Brittany, our oldest daughter, lives in the area and is expecting our first grandchild any day. My wife, who retired in December, and I are very excited about being near our new granddaughter and helping to spoil her. This move will also put us five hours closer to my father and that will certainly make things easier for him as well.

Our family has sincerely enjoyed our time in Camden County and will miss everyone terribly. We have made so many great friends here and have many fond memories that we will always cherish. Because of our love for Camden County this has been a difficult decision to make but we are extremely excited about this new and different challenge and hope you will keep our family in your prayers as we go through this transition.

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
