Thank God. Broun Jr. will run for the US Senate.
Our prayers have been answered in the 10th District, but we have to be on our guard so we do not have a United States Senator Paul Broun embarrassing the entire state like he has our Congressional District.

Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) will run for the Senate in 2014, he announced Wednesday afternoon. Broun is the first candidate to officially declare his candidacy for the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R)."We must have someone to lead the fight to stop this madness, and restore fiscal restraint to our nation's capital. Georgia needs a senator who will take a stand to stop the irresponsible spending. I'll be that leader," Broun said.Broun's decision is not a surprise. His wife said last week that he would make a bid, and the congressman filed paperwork for the race ahead of his announcement.Broun, a physician, is an outspoken conservative who has stoked controversy with his public remarks. He once said, "All that stuff I was taught about evolution, embryology, Big Bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of hell." He's also accused President Obama of upholding the "Soviet constitution."Broun likely won't be the only Republican to join the race for Chambliss's seat. Other names to watch include GOP Reps. Tom Graves, Tom Price, Phil Gingrey, and Jack Kingston, and former secretary of state Karen Handel (R).On the Democratic side, it's unclear who will emerge. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said earlier this week that he won't make a bid. Reed promoted moderate Democratic Rep. John Barrow and former Atlanta chief operating officer Peter Aman for the job."Don't tell me what you believe in.Tell me what you have done, and I will tell you what you believe in."(Mother of Congressman John Boccieri, D-OH)Morgan County, GA, History & Genealogy Books by Bonnie P.
