Largest Thrift Sale in NE GA This Weekend at Old Gym on School Street

Feel free to stay away from Downtown Watkinsville and leave all the treasure to me. There will be all kinds of gems uncovered tonight on the early sale or the rest of this weekend with the rest of the rummage sale items, running the gamut from clothing to electronics to furniture to sporting goods to who knows what at the sale on School Street in the old Rocket Gymnasium at the intersection of Thrasher Drive and School Streets near the ball field. That is where there will be plenty of parking if the games of our children do not take precedence (which I hope they do). I will be in line in plenty of time tonight.

On Friday and Saturday March 15 and 16, OCAF will hold its annual Thrift Sale Fundraiser in the Rocket Hall Gym to support the many vital art programs we offer including classes, cultural events, and exhibitions. This year's sale promises to include over 10,000 items - making this the largest thrift sale in the region. Items for sale will include home and office furniture, electronics, toys, clothing, books, tools, hardware, small appliances, lawn and  garden supply, antiques, housewares, seasonal items, plants and much much more!

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
