Somehow I think that Karl Rove raising money for Brian Kemp could kill any chance for the Georgia Secretary of State of seeking higher office here, at least any time soon.

Newt Gingrich is supposed to be coming down from Virginia for the expected coronation of John Padgett as the next chair of the Georgia GOP, although B.J. Van Gundy, Alex Johnson and Seth Harp might have a thing or two to say about that.

Also Padgett's description of the current Commander in Chief as a "Chicago thug" on Tim Bryant's NewsMaker Tuesday on Fox News 1340 WGAU AM in Athens will not do much to garner much support in the African-American circles with such racially tinged language, despite any grand schemes for manuals on how to deal with outbreaks of Ron/Rand Paul supporters.

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
