Dear Friends and Supporters,

Our campaign is off to an exciting start thanks to each of you!

This is the first of several updates I plan to send to those of you who've chosen to support me in the campaign for Georgia's open seat in the U.S. Senate.  I hope you'll find it an easy way to keep up with the latest campaign news.

Launching

Those of you who have visited the campaign website (www.DrRad.US) know that my entrance into the race generated some favorable press -- even from right-leaning newspapers.  That was a pleasant surprise!  I also had my first radio interview on a red-state talk show.  If you'd like to hear or read more, go to the media coverage page on the website

Recently

My family and I just returned from our annual summer trip to Florida, and while I was there, I made some calls each day to friends and colleagues I thought might be interested in hearing that I'm running.  It was great to catch up with some of you and share stories about our families and professional lives.  It was also helpful to hear opinions on key issues from people I respect and trust.  Thank you for taking the time to talk with me and share your ideas and concerns.

Some of you felt ready -- and even eager -- to show your support financially.  Thank you to those of you who have already sent checks or made contributions through the Donate link on the website home page.

I'd like to introduce you to the newest member of the campaign team.  Eric Gray, former Communications Director for the Democratic Party of Georgia, has just come on board as Media/Communications Director.  He is currently working on a website makeover and establishing a stronger social media presence, both of which will make a huge difference in building name recognition and awareness of the campaign.

You can help, too!  One simple way is by choosing to "like" Dr. Rad for Senate on Facebook (here's a link).  You can also tell your friends that you support the campaign -- and encourage them to stand with me -- via social media (like your own Facebook page or Twitter).

Breaking News
Until last night, I was the only announced Democrat in the Georgia's U.S. Senate race.  But, the daughter of a former senator has just announced -- with substantial financial backing and a campaign team from Washington. Rather than feeling intimidated, I am exhilarated.  The media coverage her team has worked hard to generate also propels me forward, building name recognition and awareness of my candidacy.

I'm pleased to report that early feedback from a variety of audiences (party leaders, county government officials, Democratic party volunteers, and others) has been consistently positive.  Most often, I'm hearing words like "approachable," "concerned," "genuine," and "sincere," as well as "impressive," "statesmanlike," and "inspiring."  As our campaign continues to build momentum, these impressions may translate into compelling points of difference between the two Democratic candidates.  Stay tuned!

Upcoming

For those of you who've volunteered to host a fundraiser -- either at your home or a nearby venue -- please expect to hear from me or someone on my fundraising team within the next 2-4 weeks (if you haven't already).  I am deeply grateful for your willingness to tell your friends and colleagues about my campaign, and for the gracious hospitality you are extending on my behalf.  Right now, it looks like there will be at least three out-of-town fundraising events this fall.  If you would like to know more about what's involved in hosting an event, please email or call me.  I'd be glad to talk with you about it.

I'm hoping to generate more unpaid media coverage over the next few months -- through OpEds, town hall meet 'n greets, and possibly a YouTube video.  My staff will be sure to post links to stories and videos on the website.  Please feel free to offer feedback -- and to pass along anything you think might interest your friends or colleagues.

My calendar is rapidly filling with events throughout the state.  I will ask one of my staff volunteers to let you know any time I'm going to be speaking or attending a gathering in your area.  I'd welcome the chance to see you in person.
And finally...

I thank you once again for your enthusiastic support.  You are the heart of this campaign!

all the best,
Branko (aka Dr. Rad)
