Honoring Jenny Penney Oliver
If you would like to honor Jenny, please read the following from her husband Steve:
The Jenny Penney Oliver Chair of Counseling and Student Support Services
"We seek to create an endowed chair honor that will be given to certified Clarke County school professionals who work in student support services including school counselors, school psychologists and school social workers. Questions on the application will prompt the individual to describe how she/he implements a social justice, diversity, and multicultural education philosophy in her/his work to the benefit of those students most in need of support in order to achieve an equitable result to their education. We are working on the language of those questions. In order to create this award for the next award cycle we need to raise $25,000 by approximately September 1. To date, we have commitments for donations over $22,000." In order to donate, we encourage you to send a check to
The Foundation for Excellence in Education
c/o Jenny Penney Oliver Chair
P. O. Box 1708
240 Mitchell Bridge Road
Athens, GA 30603-1708
Ultimately these donations will create the Dr. Jenny Penney Oliver Chair of Counseling and Student Support Service Professionals.
Mentor to many, Jenny was a role model for all. She will be missed by "all good Democrats" (a favorite phrase of hers) and countless others with whom she shared her boundless energy and enthusiasm. Click here to read more about Jenny Penny Oliver.
