OFA-GA Volunteers to Tea Party: Obamacare Is Working, Enough Already
Vols work to spread facts about
Atlanta, Ga. - October 9, 2013 - One week after the Affordable Care Act (ACA/Obamacare) health insurance marketplaces opened, OFA-GA volunteers will rally in Gwinnett County to get out the facts about how Obamacare is already working and to tell the Tea Party, "Enough Already."

The Tea Party forced a federal government shutdown, sabotaging the US economy in an attempt to keep Americans from getting affordable healthcare. Despite voting more than 40 times to dismantle Obamacare, the law is working and millions of Americans are signing up for affordable coverage - many for the first time.

OFA volunteers will call on the Tea Party to pay the country's bills and stop threatening an economic shutdown that will hurt everyone.

WHO:     OFA-GA Volunteers and Atlanta Residents

WHAT:   Obamacare Information Rally

WHERE: Gwinnett Justice and Administration Building, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046

WHEN:    Thursday, Oct. 10, 1 p.m.

Key ACA/Obamacare information:

  • The new health insurance marketplaces are resources for uninsured Americans and those who want to buy private insurance on their own. Those currently insured likely don't need to do anything and are already seeing better benefits.
  • Six in 10 uninsured Americans will be able to access health insurance plans for $100 or less per month in the marketplace.
  • 95 percent of Americans live in states where average premiums in the marketplace will actually be lower than expected.
  • ACA/Obamacare provides new protections and better benefits for all Geogians with insurance, including: preventive care - things like annual check-ups, blood pressure screenings and mammograms - is free; insurance companies can no longer set lifetime limits on coverage; and young adults can stay on their parents' plans until the age of 26.
