 Winter/Spring 2014 Classes
Classes starting soon!
 OCAF's Winter/Spring 2014 Art Education session starts soon! Below is a list of the classes starting in January. We will be sending out notices and posting info on the website about additional classes at a later date. Check out the great classes now available below and be sure to keep an eye out for more to come! Registration & payment for all classes may be done online or by calling / coming by the OCAF office.

Bagpipes with Dan Wilson
   
Beginner and Intermediate (A&B) classes available.  Beginner students start learning on a practice chanter. Intermediate A students continue to play on the chanter while they hone their skills. Intermediate B students play on actual Bagpipes.


Dates: January 6 through May 19, 2014 
Day / Time: Mondays
                    Beginner Class - 6pm to 7pm
                    Intermediate A Class - 7pm to 8pm
                    Intermediate B Class - 8pm - 9pm  

Class Fee: $35 OCAF Member

Painting with Charles
   

Our very own Gallery Director extraordinaire & long-time Lyndon House painting instructor, Charles Warnock, will be teaching an open studio format class in oils and acrylics. Charles will provide individual assistance and advice while Students work on subjects of their own choice. There will not be still life set-ups as subject matter. Not for Beginners.

Start Date: January 10, 2014
End Date: February 12, 2014
Day / Time: Fridays,10am - 12pm

Length of Class: 6 Classes, 2 hrs each class  

Class Fee: OCAF Members - $120.00 
                   Non-members - $140.00

Cameron Hampton Workshop Series 
 
 
In this unique series of one-day Saturday workshops Cameron offers instruction in a variety of mediums and techniques. In Drawing classes Cameron will teach the use of charcoal, graphite and ink. In Pastel classes she will teach how to capture light, creative ways to approach subject matter, and how to use pastels to fullest potential. In Mixed Media Sculpting Cameron will teach students how to use unusual materials to create unique sculptures.  

Dates: Various Saturdays through March 29, 2014                               
Time: Pastels & Drawing Classes - 10:00AM to 2:00PM   
           Mixed Media Sculpture Classes - 2:30pm to 5:00pm
Fee per Session: OCAF Members - $75.00  
                                Non-members - $85.00

Jeff Dantzler's arrests may be the best thing that ever happened to him

THis has next to nothing to do with Oconee County with the possible exception of the location of his former office, but a former colleague of mine on the radio got popped today for four counts. Any one who has listened to 960 the Ref AM sports talk radio or heard the UGA Lady Dawgs or men's baseball team has surely heard the encyclopedic knowledge of one Jeff Dantzler. Jeff and I are pretty much diametrically opposed poltically, but today he was arrested on four counts including DUI. I hope he gets the help he needs following his incarceration. I work for a lawyer who could help him out if he does not having someone already representing him. This man is a great broadcaster and I hope this arrest serves as a wake-up call for him and his rock and roll lifestyle. James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

The booking photo is not to be placed on any web page that charges a fee for booking photo removal. Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
