Please don't forget our annual meeting on Tuesday Jan 21 Ashford Manor 7pm.
For those of you interested in Civil War History here is an announcement of the latest SCV meeting program.
"Feed Them Steel" will be the title of a program presented by  Mark Lemon at the meeting of the Brig. Gen. T.R.R. Cobb Camp No. 97 Sons of Confederate Veterans February 6 at 7:00 pm at the Watkinsville Community Center, VFW Drive. His talk will deal with Confederate General James Longstreet's assault on Federal Lines at Fort Sanders northwest of Knoxville.  In an attempt to end a Federal siege of Knoxville and divert Union troops from Chattanooga, Gen. Longstreet launched a night-time charge on Fort Sanders.  The assault was unsuccessful and left much of East Tennessee in Union control.  Mark Lemon is an artist, author and historian who has been on several historical television documentaries.  His great-great grandfather was engaged in the charge on Fort Sanders.
