SPEED MEETING SET FOR MONDAY, FEB 3

Town Council has scheduled a called meeting for Monday, February 3, 2014, 7:30 pm, at Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss speed limits, traffic calming, and sidewalks. All residents are urged to attend and participate.
There is only so much Council can do with speed limits, as both the state and the county are involved. In order to accomplish anything meaningful, it will need supporting evidence
in the form of your written ideas, or your statements at the meeting. Many of you have expressed yourselves informally, now is the time to step up and make it official. After the called meeting, Council will need one or two more meetings for the formal adoption process.

Resident Felicia Kautz is one neighbor who has stepped up. She chaired an unofficial committee to consider and suggest various traffic calming measures. She presented her report to Town Council at its January meeting, and a copy is attached. Thank you, Felicia!

Finally, the requisite Engineering and Traffic Investigation Report (ETI) is done and it has been posted on the Town's website. It recommends no speed reductions and some shocking speed increases. Here's a quick summary, you might want to sit down for this:

STEVE ARNOLD AND DAVID LAWRENCE COMPLETE THEIR TERMS
Steve Arnold and David Lawrence completed their Council service on January 21, 2014. They were replaced by John MacKay and Ann Evans; these changes are reflected on the Town's website. Steve and David gave much time, effort, and sleepless nights to our Town, and we have no doubt they'll continue to help out. Thank you guys!

THE MESSENGER NEEDS SOME WEBSITE HELP

We need some help! Specifically, we need someone to set up, and occasionally maintain, our website. As you know, The Messenger is a no-money endeavor - we do this for the good of the Town. Which means we can't pay you for your help. But it shouldn't require too much work and it sure would be appreciated. Give us a call if you're interested.
