Subject: Unexpected.

Better Georgia

We don't know what you did as yesterday's winter storm approached, but we know exactly where the governor was. He sent a personally signed Tweet just to let us know.
Instead of getting ready for the coming crisis, Gov. Nathan Deal went to a luncheon to celebrate Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. The Atlanta mayor picked up an award from a magazine -- and magazine headlines are important to this governor.
That's right. Instead of preparing for the coming storm, Gov. Deal was focused on politics.

Later in the evening, as it became clear that thousands of Georgians would be stuck in their cars overnight, Gov. Deal held a live press conference with Mayor Reed.
"As you know, we have been confronted with an unexpected storm that has hit the metropolitan Atlanta area."
Gov. Deal really called this winter storm "unexpected."
He said this to a room full of news reporters who had been forecasting the potential for a storm for close to a week.
He said this as 50 children remained stuck on a school bus, unable to get home to worried families and as thousands of Georgians were still stranded in their cars on highways in metro Atlanta.
Everything is unexpected when you're not paying attention.
As an historic winter storm marched across Alabama with a bullseye on Atlanta, Gov. Deal was simply unprepared.
AJC: Top weather guy to those who talk of 'unexpected' Snowjam: 'Wrong, wrong, and wrong!'
Gov. Deal dropped the ball, and now, he refuses to accept responsibility for his mistakes.
Instead, he insisted the storm was "unexpected."
Gov. Deal should apologize and take responsibility for his failure to manage this crisis that put tens of thousands of Georgians in jeopardy.
We need a governor who is paying attention.
That's the least we expect.

Sincerely,
Bryan Long
