Your local ‘crack addict’ is what the Georgia GOP thinks of your local hospital

Better Georgia 
Think for a second about your local hospital and the nurses and doctors who provide medical care for you when you're sick.
What comes to mind?
For one Georgia lawmaker, he thinks, "They are like addicts on crack."
Seriously.

State Rep. Jason Spencer believes our hospitals are like crack addicts because the Georgia Hospital Association would like for Georgia to join the rest of the nation and plan for the new way of paying for health care.
Under the Affordable Care Act, federal laws have changed. But Georgia has done nothing to make sure our hospitals move smoothly into the new rules.
That must end now. It's time that our state leaders work to put the national laws to work here in Georgia.
State House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams has put the blame exactly where it belongs: on Gov. Nathan Deal's shoulders.
As she says, Gov. Deal is the one "who has the decision-making power."
So far, three rural hospitals have already closed because of Gov. Deal's lack of leadership on this issue.
State Rep. Spencer predicts that as many as 20 hospitals could close in Georgia this year, leaving entire communities without access to needed care. But he and Gov. Deal don't care.
Gov. Deal's stubborn, partisan refusal to take action is already hurting many Georgians.
As long as Gov. Deal and members of his political party attack our local hospitals, we know the damage will only get worse.
In the new legislative session that starts next Monday, Gov. Deal could quickly make sure more than 650,000 Georgians have health coverage and make sure our medical health industry can plan for the future with certainty.
Instead of attacking our hospitals, it's time for Gov. Deal and his supermajority legislature to support them.

James Whipple of Bogart bonded out on child porn, pot, and possession of a firearm during commission of crime charges

Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Ian James Whipple (23) of Jefferson Avenue in Bogart on one count of Computer Pornography (child pornography), one count of Violation of Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Bond was set by the court at $50,000. Whipple has bonded out of jail. The arrest st ems from an investigation that began when the OCSO received information from the Athens Clarke County Police leading to the obtaining of a search warrant for Whipple's residence and computers. That warrant was executed on July 1st. Upon entering the residence, it was discovered that Whipple also was cultivating marijuana plants. Whipple was not at the residence at the time the warrant was executed. He was arrested on July 3rd when he was located by OCSO deputies.
