Subject: Deal brags about a $750 million education shortfall
It shouldn't be a surprise by now, but Gov. Deal is at it again.
This time he's bragging about how he increased funding for public schools.
But sadly, Gov. Deal isn't being honest with you.
The new budget that Gov. Deal is bragging about still shorts our public schools around $750 million dollars.
Gov. Deal claims his budget is a gift for public education, but sadly, it's yet another massive shortfall for our already struggling schools.
Over the last decade, Georgia cut an estimated $8 billion from public school funding. Gov. Deal is responsible for $4.1 billion in cut funding over the last 3 years.
That's right, Gov. Deal's responsible for more than half of all cuts to public education over the last decade, and he's done it in just the last 3 years.
So when Gov. Deal's slick commercials say that he increased the school budget by "$538 million this year alone" -- you know he means something else. He means that he increased funding for our schools "this year only."
He'll go back to his old ways as soon as he's done talking to voters.
Gov. Deal thinks he can add back a fraction of the funding our schools lost and you will simply forget his record.
Not this time, Gov. Deal.
Trumpet your funding "increase" all you want, Gov. Deal, but we know the truth.
Fight back against Gov. Deal's attempt to conceal the truth about public education funding.
Tell your friends on Facebook and Twitter to tell everyone that Gov. Deal is up to his old tricks again. He's just not being honest about our schools.
Sincerely, Executive Director Better Georgia
