Jody Hice: Citizens need 'cannons, bazookas, missiles'

have a bad feeling that this will become a running theme in the years ahead, but ...

Earlier
this week, Jody Hice won the GOP's nomination for Congress in Georgia's
10th Congressional District, the seat held for now by Paul Broun. In
fact, Hice took won the runoff rather easily, despite -- or more
depressingly, because -- of his highly controversial positions on women's rights and the First Amendment, among other issues.

Given
the demographics of the district and the fact that Mitt Romney carried
it by 26 percentage points, Hice is almost certain to win in the fall.
So for another taste of what's to come, and of the national exposure
that Georgia is likely to get, there's this, courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

If you can't access the video, here's the transcript of Hice's remarks from his local radio show:

"We've
got to keep vigilant in having the right to defend ourselves and to
possess any weapon that we want to possess. It is my belief that any,
any, any, any weapon that our government and law enforcement possesses
ought to be allowed for individuals to possess in this country provided
they can afford it, obviously, but provided that they have a clean
record. Right now, we have the militarization of America, we have a
government armed with bazookas against the BB guns that we're allowed to
have. The Second Amendment is about us defending ourselves against
potentially tyrannical government. You cannot defend yourself with a BB
gun if your opponent has cannons and bazookas and missiles."
Cannons,
bazookas and missiles. For those who can afford them, that is, and for
use against our "opponent," the very U.S. government in which Hice --
make that U.S. Rep. Jody Hice, R-Ga. -- will soon be playing a
significant role.
