Happy Friday the 13th! (One of three in 2015) Hope everyone has had a great week!
This past week we were finally able to finish painting our cattle working facility. William was inspired by farms in New Mexico while living out West and chose the colors yellow and turquoise. It definitely adds a light, colorful touch and the cows don't seem to mind. (Photo below.)
Next week is a busy one here on the farm... We are in the process of creating the pads for four new concrete water troughs we are adding to the fields. The pad alone, nearly 1300 square feet, requires digging our the ground, leveling, putting down geo-textile fabric and covering that with six inches of gravel. After that, we will still have to trench for the water lines and use heavy equipment to lower the concrete trough.
Additionally, we are prepping for a Farm Tour as part of the Georgia Organics Conference which is in Athens next weekend!
