Road closed in Oconee County while officials repair broken gas line

A section of Lane Creek subdivision in western Oconee County is being
closed and nearby homes evacuated while repairs are being made to a
natural gas line that was damaged around 10 a.m. today, authorities
said.

The incident occurred near River Hill Drive, where fire volunteers
had evacuated a few homes while officials with a gas company were
repairing the four-inch line, according to Oconee County Fire Chief
Bruce Thaxton. A contractor working in the area broke the line,
officials said.
